It will be a treasured remembrance for me especially since I will be moving for good to Cambridge in England in the course of the coming weeks i.e. for the rest of my life. It is regrettable that your wife and you are not part of the photograph. But perhaps we will meet again in England. With warmest regards." Signed in full and in fine condition.<br/><br/> Austrian-Swedish physicist who worked with Otto Hahn and Otto Robert Frisch in discovering that nuclear fission of uranium took place when it absorbed an extra neutron. Screen print of a French riot policeman probably from the CRS - Compagnies Republicaines de Securite with the text beneath which roughly translates as 'For violence hate and repression - party of fear'. 19681505<p>Student Movement of 1968 <strong>Asesino</strong>. México D.F.: ca. 1968. Silkscreen on satin.</p><p>A rare flag from the 1968 student protest movement in Mexico City which culminated in the infamous Tlatelolco Massacre on October 2nd. Depicted is President Gustavo Díaz Ordaz who ordered the kidnapping murder and torture of hundreds of protesting students by a group of secret police paramilitaries and the army.</p><p>Posters signs flags and other handheld graphics were primarily created by student collectives at the San Carlos and La Esmerelda art schools using linocut and silkscreen in addition to offset presses. Together with origianl artwork the artists also appropriated imagery and text from previous social protest movements.</p><p>This flag juxtaposes the defaced image of Díaz Ordaz with the offical '68 Olympics font a hallmark of many of the movement's designs. The massacre took place 10 days before the opening of the games in Mexico City.</p><p><em>Fabric near fine with original irregular edges approx. 70 x 40 cm. Creased where folded. A few paint smudges outside the boundaries of the central image. </em></p>

Sixteen colour prints of Vietnamese children's art circa 1968 through 1970. Prints measure approximately 10.25" by 7.25" with actual picture size of approximately 8.5" by 6.25". All text in Vietnamese. Verso of each print bears print number (1 through 16), plus what appears to be title, artist's name, date, and age of artist. Print one shows a seated Ho Chi Minh surrounded by adoring children. Print five shows children gathering vegetation to assist soldiers in the camouflaging of a large truck-mounted rocket. Print 16 shows a soldier teaching children how to use a rifle. Prints are stored in a well-worn but still attractive colour-illustrated protective cover. Bottom of cover reads "Nha xuat ban my thuat - am nhac." Prints in nice shape with no markings. Includes yellowed business card of a Japan-based Canadian academic. A lovely, fascinating and unique set. Book
