The first six volumes are dated 1862 and the last volume is dated 1863. Thomas Hood was an English poet author and humourist best known for his poems The Bridge of Sighs and The Song of the Shirt. These volumes are edited with notes by Thomas Hood's son. The works within these volumes are organised chronologically and contain some of his best known work. Thomas Hood was a regular contributor to The London Magazine. Punch and Athenaeum. With a frontispiece to volume six. Collated complete. With adverts to the rear of volume one and to the front of volume four. Bound by Leighton Son and Hodge. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart with some fading to the spines and bumping to the head and tail of the spines. Some marks to the boards. Previous owner inscription to the title page of vol. 1. Overall an attractive set in solid condition. Hood's works in chronological order from 1821 to 1845. Thomas Hood 1799 – 1845 was an English poet author and humorist best known for poems such as The Bridge of Sighs and The Song of the Shirt. Hood wrote regularly for The London Magazine Athenaeum and Punch. He later published a magazine largely consisting of his own works. Hood never robust had lapsed into invalidism by the age of 41 and died at the age of 45. William Michael Rossetti in 1903 called him the finest English poet between the generations of Shelley and Tennyson. Hood was the father of the playwright and humorist Tom Hood 1835–1874 and the children's writer Frances Freeling Broderip 1830–1878. Edward Moxon & Co hardcover

William Curtis 1746-1799 was a trained pharmacist who maintained a large garden and devoted himself to the study of its flora. He began publishing the Curtis Botanical Magazine in 1787. Accompanied by photocopy of text describing features of the plant when it was introduced and by whom and whose collection it comes from.Central horizontal fold as issued.
