Freud mantenne viva per anni la curiosità verso la trasmissione di pensiero, fin da quando, nel 1910, dimostrò magistralmente la capacità degli indovini di "leggere" il pensiero inconscio del consultante per offrire previsioni convincenti. Grazie alle sue coraggiose ricerche fu possibile rivelare in seguito la connessione fra trasmissione di pensiero e un nucleo fondante e perturbante della psiche, oltre che con il transfert stesso. Questo volume raccoglie gli scritti sull'argomento dal primo inedito del 1899 a "Sogno e occultismo" del 1932, e traccia il graduale costruirsi del pensiero freudiano su un tema all'epoca assai discusso e che non smette di affascinare anche i contemporanei.
