Opera rara, curiosa e varie volte ristampata come riferisce Graesse. Elenca in 134 capitoli vari vizi e facoltà umane e ne commenta i contenuti: Demonio, angeli, matrimonio, idolatria, spiriti, omicidio, lussuria, morte ecc. Manca a tutta la bibliografia consultata compreso Adams, Bm. Stc. German, Choix, Brunet e vari cataloghi di religione come Rosenthal n° 202 e Olschki Cat. 157 "Theology". Solo Graesse elenca 4 edizioni, la più antica del 1533 ma non siamo riusciti a determinare quale fosse la prima edizione. Alcune carte con fori di tarlo ben restaurati, frontis con antica firma cassata, ipercettibili tracce di alone ma esemplare bello nitido e genuino. brossura Il merito di questo libro è di offrire un panorama della materia sulla base delle fonti, e, quindi, della dottrina, e di una esemplificazione che comprende tempi e paesi diversi. Il testo fondamentale al quale il Guaccio si ispirò fu il Malleus maleficarum del terribile monaco domenicano Jacob Sprenger, mandato da Innocenzo VIII in Germania nel 1489 ad affermarvi la potenza del Tribunale dell'Inquisizione, in nome di Roma. Altra fonte dell'opera è la Disquisitiones magicae del gesuita Martin del Rio, pubblicato nel 1589, che si distingue rispetto all'altro per un maggior buon senso e un invito alla moderazione nell'uso, allora insostituibile, della tortura. La posizione del Guaccio sembra porsi a metà strada tra quelle dei suoi maestri. La lettura del libro può oggi offrire un quadro abbastanza esatto e preciso del modo in cui allora si ponevano queste questioni.
