Anna Katharina Emmerick (1774 - 1824), monaca agostiniana tedesca, è la veggente di Dülmen celebre per i suoi doni spirituali, tra i quali le stimmate e le profonde pene che porta su di sé, per alleviare le sofferenze del prossimo. Innumerevoli sono le visioni bibliche e contemplazioni mistiche raccontate dalla Emmerick, poi raccolte, in una monumentale opera in tre volumi, dal poeta tedesco Clemens Brentano che instancabilmente le rende visita ogni giorno dal 1818 al 1824. La donna possedeva il carisma di operare conversioni, tra le più note si ricorda quella di Luise Hensel, poetessa protestante; del dottor Wesener, medico curante di Anna; del conte Federico Leopoldo Stolberg, scrittore e traduttore e dello stesso Brentano. Il 3 ottobre 2004 Giovanni Paolo II la elevò agli onori degli altari proclamandola beata.

Für mehr als siebenhundert Jahre prägte Rumis Masnevi das soziale und religiöse Leben in der Türkei, im Irak, in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indien und Zentralasien. Auch in der westlichen Welt findet die Masnevi heutzutage wachsenden Zuspruch bei Gelehrten und Poeten. Rumi wurde 1207 in Balkh geboren, das im heutigen Afghanistan liegt. Balkh war zu dieser Zeit die Wiege islamischer Kultur. Diese Gegend war hauptsächlich von Türken und weniger von Iranern oder Arabern besiedelt. Rumi wuchs auf unter der sorgfältigen Obhut seines Vaters, der selbst ein anerkannter Gelehrter und Verehrer Gottes war Drei Jahre bevor die verwüstenden Armeen der Mongolen nach Afghanistan einfielen, verließen Rumi und sein Vater ihr Heimatland und wanderten aus nach Zentral-Anatolien. Rumi ist von uns gegangen im Jahre 1273 Heutzutage findet man noch die Überreste des Sultanspalastes und seiner Schlösser, doch wir finden keine Spur von Rumis Haus. Sein Zuhause war schon immer in den Herzens Menschen.

For prophets it is just the opposite: The outer universe is microcosm and the macrocosm is hidden in them. Don't bother yourself with "You say like this, and the others say like that or you think like this while others think like that". Why should you care for the eternity of the universe, you should try to learn about your own eternity. Find out whether you are eternal (Kadim) or mortal being (Hadis) by fate. You have a short age spend it on research. Why do you spend your life on useless discussion of eternity of the universe? Knowing God needs a deep study. But you are yourself deep, o negligent! If there is any depth, it is in you. What kind of a friend (of God) are you that you don't know the secret of your Beloved in your veins and fate as evident as the palm of your hand. How can you claim to be God-loving man if you don't know His secrets in you. One should look at a beloved with loving eyes. It is said in the Koran: "And God loves them". The problem is that some don't look at God with love. They try to look at Him through knowledge, philosophy or Gnosticism, while to look at Him with love is a different thing.
