Sultanate of Rûm was a medieval state in Anatolia founded by Seljuq Turks who had recently converted to Islam. Although initially a part of the Great Seljuk Empire, it lasted longer than the Great Seljuks, reaching its apogee during the reign of Alaattin Keykubat I. But in the mid-13th century, Seljuks faced the problem of refugees. The Mongols had defeated the Khwarazm Empire at the east, and Oghuz Turk clans were escaping from the Turkistan area to Anatolia. These clans were nomadic and mostly Tengriist, i.e. non Muslim. The Seljuk sultan Giyaseddin Keyhüsrev II attempted to settle these people in Southeast Anatolia (Asiatic part of modern Turkey), but they defied his diktat. They started to convert to Islam, but their interpretation of Islam was more tolerant than that of the settled population, and they were regarded as heretics. However they were supported by the nomadic Turkmen people of Central Anatolia who had migrated earlier than the newcomers but had the same problems. Rare.

Rara descrizione di un miracolo avvenuto nel settecento per mezzo della reliquia del braccio di San Francesco Saverio e per intercessione dello stesso Santo. Francisco de Jasso Azpilcueta Atondo y Aznares de Javier, comunemente noto con il nome italianizzato in Francesco Saverio (Javier, 7 aprile 1506 – isola di Sancian, 3 dicembre 1552), è stato un gesuita e missionario spagnolo, proclamato santo nel 1622 da papa Gregorio XV; il suo culto è ammesso anche dalla Chiesa anglicana. Era nato in una famiglia nobile di Javier (in Navarra). I beni della famiglia erano stati confiscati da Ferdinando il Cattolico dopo la vittoria sugli autonomisti navarrini filofrancesi. Per sfuggire alla sconfitta e alla miseria si rifugiò quindi in Francia, e andò a studiare teologia alla Sorbona dove, dopo il primo triennio, divenne Magister. Nel suo stesso collegio di Santa Barbara arrivò Ignazio di Loyola che ne riconobbe immediatamente il temperamento combattivo ed ardente e decise di conquistarlo alla propria causa. Francisco Javier, indicato da Ignazio, partì per i suoi viaggi missionari nel marzo del 1541. Per le Indie si partiva da Lisbona, e il viaggio del nuovo missionario durò più di un anno: arrivò a Goa nel maggio dell'anno successivo, spingendosi poi fino a Taiwan. La tradizione vuole che egli abbia portato la propria attività missionaria fino alle Filippine, ma di questo viaggio mancano tracce documentali. Molto raro, nessun esemplare censito in ICCU. Prima ed unica edizione. Esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni.
<p>22 cm, brossura coeva in cartoncino semplice con titolo manoscritto al piatto, p. 14 scritte solo al recto. All'interno 118 titoli ordinatamente manoscritti citati nel romanzo di Laurent Bordelon del 1710. La datazione è ricavata dalla filigrana del foglio della brossura. L'autore, anonimo, si firma con l'acronimo M.D.E.</p>
