Tipped-in to volume II page 570 of Letters of a Family During the War for the Union 1861-1865 Printed for Private Distribution by Georgeana Woolsey Bacon and Eliza Woolsey Howland 1899 with a manuscript note in the margin dated 1899 and reading in part "Furniture & hangings by L. Marcotte & Co . everything made to perfect scale . sold to L.C. who refused it . Re-sold to the women's prisoners of the Insane Asylum at Philadelphia where the poor women when 'good' are allowed to play with it." Unrecorded in OCLC we assume this was printed for private distribution by a member of the Bacon or Howland family. The model fairy house and furniture was possibly made for the New York Metropolitan Fair of 1864 preparations for which are mentioned often in the collected family letters. Unrecorded in OCLC C.O. An historical essay concerning miniatures by the former librarian at Brown University and president of the American Library Association. The type was originally set for Bruce Rogers by Mackenzie and Harris but the proofs arrived the day Rogers died 21 May 1957.
