Eine sehr frühe Geschichte der Eisenbahn mit zahlreichen, sehr detailreichen Jugendstil-Zeichnungen von Dampflokomotiven und Details zu anderen Eisenbahneinrichtungen von den Anfängen bis 1893 sowie Portraits von wichtigen Persönlichkeiten aus der Eisenbahngeschichte und einem umfangreichen Index zu den behandelten und abgebildeten Lokomotiven. In einer Nachbemerkung weist der Autor daraufhin, dass das Buch, anders als im Impressum vermerkt, nicht 1894 sondern erst 1896 erschienen ist. Grund: Er sei damals mit einem Schlitten in Sibirien unterwegs gewesen, um die Pläne für die noch nicht fertigen Teile der transsibirischen Eisenbahn zu studieren. Nicht bei Metzeltin, in den letzten 20 Jahren auf keiner Auktion gehandelt. Hardcover Beide Deckel lose, Rücken unten gebrochen, stark beschabt, Kanten und Ecken bestossen, mit kleinen Fehlstellen.

Laid in are a Dealer letter on company letterhead; a ring size chart; four printed envelopes addressed to the company; one printed post card addressed to the company; three Dealer's Standard Conditional Sales Contracts blank; a Dealer's Confidential Price List; and a promotional flyer printed in dark brown on stiff brown paper: "Ask to see our complete showing of top quality diamonds men's and ladies' watches rings pins jewelry silverware clocks bags pearls ivory dresser sets." B/w illustrations of ladies' and men's diamond rings in the Deco style buttons brooches watches and watch cases belt buckles mantel clocks pens more. Page 45-46 has a short closed tear at the top edge not affecting text or images. Some pages are printed in two three or four colors - pp. 83-90 are in full color and feature pearls from L. Charles Martin (1848-1934), dont la finesse du trait se prète particulièrement bien à la technique de l'eau-forte et de la pointe-sèche collabore à de nombreuses revues de luxe, françaises et américaines (Gazette du Bon Ton ; Harper's Bazar). Il illustre une vingtaine d'ouvrages dont le célèbre Sports et Divertissements, un cycle de 21 pièces brêves d'Erik Satie. Très bon exemplaire, sans rousseur. "
