Folio 17 x 15 inches brown cloth stamped in gilt on front cover with 9 photos on paper measuring 13.5 x 9.5 inches the images themselves measuring 9 x 6.5 inches showing the 7 judges individually plus two group photos. Photos appear to be signed faintly in pencil by R. Johnson. On the brown pages on which these photos are mounted the individual judges are identified in Conté crayon. Very good with 1921 certificate broadside from the American Flag House and Betsy Ross Memorial Association declaring Porter a member in good standing 14 x 11 inches somewhat spotty and soiled. William David Porter 1850-1930 was admitted to the Allegheny County Bar in 1872 and served as District Attorney for Allegheny County from 1884 to 1890. From 1891 to 1898 he was a judge in the Court of Common Pleas and as such adjudicated some of the trials resulting from the Homestead Strike of 1892. in 1898 he rose to the Superior Court and was the presiding judge at the time of his death in 1930. Studio passes were given to press and industry representatives allowing the bearer access to the studio’s lot and sets. It reads in full: “Identification Card Void After April 1 1937 Admit to Studio Lot for Parking and to Publicity Dept. Only No. 29 stamped Issued to Jimmy Starr L.A. Herald & Express typed Authorized by signed.†Blank on the verso. About fine with the most minute trace of use. Jimmy Starr 1902 - 1990 is best known as a Hollywood columnist though he was also a writer and actor known for The Corpse Came C.O.D. 1947 A Night for Crime 1943 and Pink Pajamas 1929. Some of the 1937 Paramount Studios films Mr. Starr may have enjoyed include such popular productions as Jungle Jim with Grant Withers and Betty Jane Rhodes We Have Our Moments with Sally Ellers and James Dunn and When Love Is Young with Virginia Bruce Kent Taylor and Walter Brennan.
