Provenance: from a group of theatre-related photographs originally collected by the Sydney actor stage manager and playwright Alfred Dampier. Australian stage and silent screen actress Lily Dampier Katherine Annabel Lily Dampier 1867-1915 was the daughter of Alfred Dampier and Katherine Russell. Although her best known stage roles were Shakespearean she was also a success as Sylvia in her father's adaptation of Marcus Clarke's novel For the Term of His Natural Life and as Kate in Robbery Under Arms. She later starred in several early Australian silent films including three released in 1911: The Life of Rufus Dawes which was based on her father's stage adaptation of For the Term of His Natural Life; Captain Midnight the Bush King; and Captain Starlight or Gentleman of the Road. unknown

Wrappers lightly stained and with adhesive trace of an old price tag; else good or better. Catalog of the Cologne video studio Oppenheim which was founded in October 1974 as one of the first venues for the then new art genre. The institution quickly developed into a showcase and production site for the first generation of video artists in West Germany. The gallery also founded by Ingrid Oppenheim and attached to the studio represented artists such as Sigmar Polke Katharina Sieverding Ulrike Rosenbach Imi Knoebel and Klaus vom Bruch. Alongside Gerry Schum and Ursula Wevers Oppenheim became one of the central protagonists who significantly advanced the establishment of video art. 1900141<p>South Bend Washington 1900. Very Good. Columbia Box and Lumber Co. General Merchandise and Loggers Supplies Staple and Fancy Groceries Photo on Board. Circa 1900 photo measuring 6.25 x 8 inches on 10 x 12 inch board. Loomis Studio written in pencil on verso of photo.<br /><br />Silver gel photo is in very condition with light silvering. Mounted on rust colored board which has light soiling and moisture damage which does not go into the photo. Verso is blank save for a light pencil annotation noting the photographer and location.<br /><br />The town of South Bend Washington was incorporated in 1890 and is the self-proclaimed oyster capital of the world. We find numerous newspaper references to the Columbia Box and Lumber Company especially in regard to lumber activities. This photo perhaps taken before a 4th of July parade showcases products sold at the Columbia Box and Lumber Company. It appears that the float has Hammonds Best Flour Sacks in addition to rows of merchandise including a display of MJB Coffee cans. The ton is located on the Willapa River and the store appears to be built entirely on a boardwalk. Classic photo of turn of the century Western Americana.</p>

Slightly chipped on corners and margins a stain on the descriptive text area. Otherwise a good photo. Original print photograph from 'Les costumes populaires de la Turquie en 1873 ouvrage publie sous le patronage de la Commission Imp. de l'Exposition Universelle de 1873 a Vienne'. Photograph depicts three Ottoman civilians of Rhodes Island in their local costumes; one is an outdoor dress of Muslim women living in Rhodes the second is a standard dress for Muslim men and the last one is a home dress of Muslim women. Pascal Sébah 1823-1886 was a photographer in Constantinople now Istanbul and Cairo who produced a prolific number of images of Egypt Turkey and Greece to serve the tourist trade and the founder of Sebah & Joaillier Photograph Studio. He established a valuable working relationship with Turkish painter Osman Hamdi Bey taking photographs as part of the artist's preparation and in which he experimented with light and shade. In turn Hamdi Bey selected Sébah to illustrate his text on the popular costumes worn by Turkish and other ethnic groups entitled Les Costumes Populaires de la Turquie en 1873: ouvrage publié sous le patronage de la Commission impériale ottomane pour l'Exposition universelle de Vienne and published in 1873. <br/> <br/> hardcover

On rear are 6 more cards with addresses postmarks and messages exposed. Backerboard is a bit cracked on this side and the cards are sliding around. A more secure form of permanent display will be needed. <br/><br/>One photo is of nine young men. The other photos are of various members of the group usually in cowboy or hunting attire. However we think they're playing dress-up not real cowboys since they're seated on barrels holding rifles in front of a painted backfrop of a log cabin and wilderness lake. unknown
