The film starred Angie Dickinson John Wayne Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson with Howard Hawks as director and Leigh Brackett and Jules Furthman as screen writers. The film was shot on location in Arizona. Texas Sheriff John Chance arrests Joe Burdette for murder. Joe’s powerful and wealthy brother Nathan gathers hired guns and surrounds the town determined to free him. Subsequently Sheriff Chance must fend off the gang with the help of a young gunfighter a disabled man and the town drunk. Alongside the action Sheriff Chance develops a romantic relationship with Feathers played by Angie Dickinson a sharp-witted gambler. One of the most entertaining Western films ever made from the standpoint of cinematography dialogue story economy direction and acting. The basis for the film is the book "Rio Bravo" written by Leigh Brackett and published as a paperback original in 1959 by Bantam Books. Remarkably well-preserved and entirely without blemish to the extremities or contents. Near fine. <br/><br/>Rare in commerce. Unrecorded in OCLC. Each part in grey printed paper wrappers and containing an introduction on a particular medium including wood-engraving lithography water-colouring etc. followed by six tipped-in plates. Plates include original etchings and engravings and reproductions of water-colours and oils. Gray paper wrappings have some wear to edges but are internally clean.
