Quarto. 3 volumes: 1. pp. 80 engraved title-page and 38 plates containing 76 engraved illustrations; 2. pp. 81-144 frontispiece and 34 plates containing 68 engraved illustrations; 3. pp. 149-220 frontispiece and 35 plates containing 68 engraved illustrations. For a total of 110 plates containing 215 engraved illustrations. Most plates have tissue-guards. Original half calf and moiré on Turkish doubled marble patterned paper flat spine with gilt-stamped floral cartouche enclosing the title "Lakes" and the volume number. Covers rubbed and scuffed previous owner's tiny ink name at head of front blanks dated Feb'y 17th 1865 on the verso and recto of a blank fly sheet in each volume is very neatly handwritten in two columns an alphabetical index with page number of the volume's plates.
