[2], 62 pages. Facsimile reproduction of letter addressed to Dr. David Goldstein, LL.D., by Benjamin H. Freedman, dated October 10, 1954. Freedman, a Jew turned Catholic, presents carefully researched and extensively referenced arguments, including why Jesus was not a Jew. His arguments lean heavily upon the history of the Chazars (Khazars) and cited Talmudic passages. Copy of detailed two-page typescript letter from Conde McGinley, Editor of the semi-monthly publication Common Sense, laid-in. McGinley encourages readers to order more copies of this work to help spread its message and to help fund his legal defense against Rabbi Joachim Prinz (who had accused Common Sense of libel for characterizing him as a "Red Rabbi"). Also laid-in is a copy of a one-page typescript page imploring readers to get copies of this book into the hands of half-a-million American community leaders. Light wear to book. Underlining and marginal lines in colored pencil on seven pages, inside back cover, and on first page of McGinley letter. Seven years after this letter was written, Freedman gave a shocking speech (audio available online) in which he linked the signing of the Balfour Declaration with America's entry into WWI. A sound vintage copy of this profound work. (Singerman 928) Book

1961425j1622New York: Julian Messner Inc. Good. 1961. Third Printing. Hardcover. "In my own time governments have taken the place of people. They have also taken the place of God. I have written chiefly of one government in this book - that of the new Jewish state of Israel. I am a Jew. I come of a long never-broken line of Jews. They did well by the world. What happened to this fine heritage when the Jews finally fashioned a government of their own in Israel What happened to Jews when they became Jewish politicians What happened to a piety a sense of honor and a brotherly love that 2500 years of anti-semitism were unable to disturb in the Jewish soul My answers are in this book." - Preface. "Describes events surrounding the 1954-1955 Kastner trial in Jerusalem. Based on trial transcripts Hecht concludes that in 1944 Rudolf Kastner a member of David Ben Gurion's Mapai Party deliberately withheld from Hungarian Jews knowledge that the trains Nazis were putting them on were taking them to die not to a fictitious resettlement city as the Nazis claimed and that Kastner lied about it under oath." - Wikipedia. "A devastating account." - E. Jager Jerusalem Post 2007. "Ben Hecht 1894-1964 was an American screenwriter director producer playwright journalist and novelist. 1914190814Cambridge: privately printed by Galloway & Porter 1914. I claim originality for my work which has cost me more than a year of strain First edition one of 250 copies only. Born into Mumbai's Parsee community Sett matriculated at Downing College Cambridge in 1910 and began this project in 1912. When British publishers offered to produce only an attenuated version of his sensuous illustrations his father funded private publication through the Cambridge bookstore Galloway & Porter. Sett's decadent interpretation raised eyebrows among Western audiences. In his preface Sett attacks Western-centric comparisons between his style and that of Aubrey Beardsley. After the Second World War the work was reissued in Mumbai. Large octavo. Illustrated title page 30 plates 15 with captioned tissue guards. Original black cloth spine and front cover lettered and decorated in gilt top edge gilt others untrimmed.
