Occasional light smudges to margins damp-stain to lower right corner of last plate not affecting image otherwise an excellent copy of Alken's first published work.

A second edition appeared in 1821. Though Siltzer notes an earlier edition of 1811 no other bibliographer has noted such and there are no records of an 1811 edition found in international institutional libraries nor in auction records within the last thirty-five years. The issue under notice is found in only six libraries worldwide.

Alken's first hunting satire showing how the untrained rider endangers himself his hors and others around him. The work is an ironic sequel to Frankland's Indispensable Accomplishments taking the Frankland "Billesdon Coplow" scenes and captions and turning them on their ear specifically on the rider's behind as he's tossed hither and yon by a horse clearly more in control of things than the rider who is finally carried off the field of comic disaster by his friends.

The first of Alken's color plate books. 1932128886Los Angeles: Fox Film Corporation 1932. Post-production Continuity script for the 1932 pre-Code film.

A comedy with angles on sports gangsters and higher education that demonstrates the timelessness of the interdependence of college football and the continued ability for a university to exist.

Victor McLaglen plays hulking gangster Knucks McGloin who founds a school called Canarsie College. Canarsie being a real neighborhood in New York City that produced more than its share of gangsters. Knucks doesn't really care about higher education: Canarsie College was created only so that Knucks would be able to control a collegiate football team which in turn would be a vehicle for his gambling activities. By organizing the bookie action on Canarsie's football matches Knucks makes enough money to offset the expense of the college.

Light blue titled wrappers dated November 7 1932 noting footage of 5800 feet. Mimeograph duplication. Pages Near Fine in a Very Good plus wrapper. Fox Film Corporation unknown books
