An archive of 3 scripts relating to an unproduced film version of "Joan of Arc" developed by Selznick International Pictures and Vanguard Films. The archive includes:<br/><br/>Early partial treatment but complete as issued for an unproduced film "Joan of Arc" written for the screen by Ben Hecht. The treatment ends with Joan being brought from her cell still in armor to see the judges for the first time. Though incomplete in terms of the story this clearly the script that was issued probably for approval toward a more fully developed screenplay for which Hecht did complete at least two later drafts. Pale green titled wrappers with title and credit for screenwriter Hecht rubber-stamped copy No. 15 and dated 10/7/46 on the front wrapper. 9 leaves mimeograph duplication rectos only. Pages and wrapper Near Fine bound with three tarnished silver brads. <br/><br/>First Draft script by Ben Hecht. Blue card wrappers rubber-stamped Copy No. 37 with the title credit for screenwriter Hecht and date of November 12 1946 Re-run April 11 1947 on the front wrapper. Distribution page present with receipt intact. Title page is integral with the first page of text. 150 leaves all on white stock mimeograph duplication. Pages and wrapper Near Fine internally bound with three silver brads. <br/><br/>Research document for an unproduced film. A separate and rather extensive document translated by Donald M. Frame from the original Jules Quicherat French text for use in development of the film. The document is divided into two sections: 1 a 62-page section detailing the "Exposition and preliminaries of the case" and the first five sessions and 2 a 135-page section detailing the sixth session followed by several sessions both in prison and in court. Gray card wrappers rubber-stamped copy numbe with the title credit for author Quicherot and translator Frame and a date of 10/10/46 on the front wrapper. Hecht's first Treatment script for the film was submitted just three days before on 10/7/46. Distribution page present with receipt intact. Title page is integral with the first page of text. 197 leaves all on white stock mimeograph duplication. Pages and wrapper Near Fine bound with three silver brads. Story of two little boys brothers and their make-believe Civil War using their sister's boy doll as either Jefferson Davis or Abraham Lincoln depending on which brother had control on a particular day. On Sundays the doll was ordered to rest by the boy's father and on that particular day was given the common name of "Jefferson Davis Abraham Lincoln Bowe." Scarce especially in this condition.
