I primi due volumi sono di Guido Maragoni mentre il terzo ed il quarto sono a firma di Alberto Clementi. Terza edizione a cura di Alberto Clementi, 1961 (volumi I e II); seconda edizione 1962 (Volumi III e volume "L'arte dell'arredamento"). Molto ricco l'apparato iconografico di questa opera che consta in numerose immagini fotografiche in nero nel testo e di numerose (99 in totale) tavole fotografiche, a piena pagina, sia a colori che in nero. Opera decisamente esaustiva sul tema della storia dell'arredamento (vengono trattate diverse epoche storiche e diversi oggetti che rientrano nel mondo dell'arredamento: mobili, carte da parati, illuminazione, arazzi, ceramiche, stoffe, oggetti in ferro battuto o in vetro, porcellane,..). Gli ultimi due volumi sono incentrati sull'epoca moderna e sul '900 e trattano numerosi stili (liberty, art Nouveau, ...) e numerosissimi designer italiani e stranieri.
