19185431Belton MT: The Marble Studio 1918. Silver gelatin photograph 12 cm x 17 cm with a photographer's handstamp on the reverse. Corners rubbed with a bend to the upper left corner. Good contrasts. 17 manuscript numbers on photograph over buildings structures and places that are identified on the reverse in manuscript. Nicely identified military camp that locates living quarters including officers canteen outhouses etc. Nice image by a renowned Montana photographer.<br/><br/>R.E. 'Ted' Marble 1883-1938 was a concessioner for photographs in Glacier National Park and for the Great Northern beginning in 1913. In 1918 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the photographic department of the Army Air Service during the first world war.
