Embossed on front with date of performance July 11 1883 Ripon Cathedral. 112pp. Signatories of Cathedral Ofiicers on front end paper as well as the Dean Fremantle and the Organist Edwin J Crow of Ripon Cathedral include Herbert Parratt possibly the son of Sir Walter Parratt Master of the Queen's Musick J Powell Metcalfe General Secetary and Lemuel Joy Tucked in is a newspaper cutting listing Dr Edwin J Crow as Organist at Ripon and referring to Sir Water Parratt. Book is in 'untouched' if worn original condition. Both boards are off and all edges are rubbed. Leather on spine is cracked but not flaking. Endpapers are present. Text is whole some even foxing to pages but. Small 8vo 291 pages. Original marbled boards with leather back and corners leather label on spine. From the library of Rev'd Richard Hill his contemporary bookplate inside front board and his signature on title page. Pencil 'sketch' on frontis. After the young missionary David Brainerd died of tuberculosis at the Edwards home in 1748 Edwards read through Brainerd s manuscript diaries. Impressed he resolved to prepare them for the press. Exalting Brainerd s self-sacrificial faith in the cause of converting the heathen Edwards presented Brainerd as a concrete example of sainthood as laid out in Religious Affections. From Yale University Press site on Edwards works. Reverend Richard Hill's 'cross' of religious affections sketched out in light pencil on blank page facing title page. Sewn at spine with red silk ribbon. A very scarce and beautifully printed Victorian catalog for women's shoes. The company specifically designed shoes for young women that were graceful shapely and easy to the foot to make it a pleasure for walking in the fall and winter. These styles include the Rambler the Cresto the Waverly the Ardsley the Carmen the Hy-Tide and the Dixie. This catalog features the latest company styles shown against the backdrop of color cover art of shoes worn by the Queen of Sheba Helen of Troy Cleopatra Pocahontas Betsy Ross and others. Founded originally in 1893 by Julian future Treasury Secretary under Roosevelt and Truman and Kokenge a Kentucky shoe manufacturer the company transferred operations to Columbus Ohio in 1932 and operated until 1975. Light soiling light bumping to corners and with light wear to the extremities.
