Nelly was the pseudonym under which Greek photographer Elli Souyoulzoglou-Seraidari (1899-1998) achieved fame for her work in Dresden, Athens and New York. She became the official national photographer of her country and her works were exhibited in the Greek booth at the world exhibition in New York in 1939. This volume unites a selection of her finest portraits, nudes, dance stills, architecture photography and images of rural Greece.Based on a photography exhibit at the Benaki Museum, Athens. Book is in excellent condition with reversed binding: text spine is where the page ends would usually be. A few very small indications of use; bumped upper corner, otherwise Fine. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Heavily illustrated with a great many full page, full color illustations, prints, photos of the exhibition the book is derived from, lots of blasphemous material, mocking of authorities, especially the Shaw of Iran, re-creation of persian miniatures, photos from the Iranian revolution.
