[Album of photographs]. Merih Akogul was born in Istanbul in 1963. He graduated from the Photography Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University in 1985 and completed his Master's degree at the Photography Department of Marmara University, Fine Arts Institute in 2001. While studying at Mimar Sinan University, he founded the "Group 9", a league of photographers. Akogul has held numerous slide shows and exhibited his photographs in Turkey and abroad. He has written articles on photography, given seminars and conferences, and presented academic papers. He has also directed and participated in panel discussions and served as a member of selection committees. Akogul has taught photography at private colleges and institutions and served as the artistic consultant for arts and culture programs on private radio and television. He has also been working as a publicity photographer and copywriter. His photographs, writings and critiques on the theory of photography, plastic arts and music have been published widely in various daily press and periodicals. He has published 12 books. In 2003, Akogul received a grant from the Art Department of the Austrian Federal Chancellery and went to Vienna to continue his photographic work. His works can be seen in many national and international museums and private collections. Akogul currently teaches photography at Bahçesehir University and Eyüboglu Schools. He also works as an instructor for private organizations such as Fototrek and Hepsi Hikaye.

This catalog presents a selection of works by the then recently re-discovered artist Jakob Philipp Hackert (1737- 1807) a landscape painter from Brandenburg who worked mostly in Italy. He was in Rome from 1768 to 1786 when his pictures were much in demand. A trove of these works came up at auction in Paris, but were claimed by the state. This is the only other available catalogue showing his work and the works of Christoph Heinrich Kniep (1755- 1825). Illustrated in black & white and color with several fold-outs.
