This is a sale catalog for an auction held at Aguttes in Paris at the Hotel Drouot on March 9, 2005. This sale consisted of the estate of Georges Manzana-Pissarro (1871-1961), the son of Camille Pissarro. 110 lots in this part of the sale. Manzana-Pissarro is best known today as an Orientalist painter, and most of the paintings and objects offered here are in this genre. The second part of the sale 'Collection de Monsieur V. ensemble de 33 oeuvres provenant de l'atelier de Pierre Grisot', contained 33 paintings by Pierre Grisot (1910-1995) a school of Paris type painter. The third section of the sale, 'Collection de Monsieur D. ensemble de 31 oeuvres provenant de l'atelier de Maurice Busset', had 31 paintings by another school of Paris painter Maurice Busset (1879-1936). The final section of the sale contained Orientalist and other modernist 19th century paintings. 298 lots in the sale. All illustrated in color. This is a very good copy of the original catalog for the 1929 Girl Scouts Loan Exhibition, which has been bound in dark gray cloth, with red and gilt title label on the spine. The original green and gilt printed catalog cover bound in. Completely clean outside. Inside covers generally clean, but a few marks to front cover lower left, and one page with old tape repairs. This repaired page has a plate on each side (no.570-71), and the repairs are on either side of the photograph just touching its' border. A few pages have very faint tan streaks on them, possibly from the binding process. Also a few abrasions to texts. Otherwise very clean and fresh. Preface. Short texts introduce the sections. Texts by George S. McKearin, Andrew Varick Stout, Louis Guerineau Meyers and E.T.H. 926 works in the exhibition. All reproduced in black & white photographs.
