One albumen stereoview photograph sized 5.75 x 3.25 in. mounted on beige studio board sized 7 x 3.5 in. w/ photographer’s imprint and caption on the board VG exemplar from the library of Prof. Marvin Nathan. An unusually scarce original albumen stereoview photograph capturing the prize-winning stand of decorative art glass offered by the famed Victorian china and glass manufacturer’s W.P. & G. Phillips located on Oxford Street & New Bond Street. They catered to a well-to-do class of clients and their displays offered intricate and beautifully made designs. The Great London Exhibition of 1862 emulated the original 1851 Crystal Palace Great Exhibition featured over 28000 participating vendors and set on the present site of the Natural History Museum and Science Museum in London’s South Kensington. Woodward 1836-1894 first established himself as a photography dealer and decorative arts and glass dealer in Orange MA before locating his firm in Rochester in 1862 where continued operating under his own imprint before becoming director of the Union View Co. in 1882 producing landscapes and architectural views.
