Su autor, el hoy Venerable Fray Francisco de la Cruz, nacido en Mora, Toledo, es hoy conocido, además de por sus interesantes escritos, por ser el peregrino por excelencia, ya que a lo largo de su vida peregrinó a Roma, Tierra Santa y Santiago de Compostela, con una cruz a cuestas.

This is a near fine hardcover two volume set with fine dust jackets. Both volumes are signed in ink, by the author, Charles Truman, and inscribed to two friends. There is also a slight touch of moisture to the light green endpapers, front and back, of volume 1 which has bled onto the half title-page edge, and last index pages (see photos). Otherwise completely clean throughout. The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection of Gold Boxes is one of the world's most comprehensive collections of gold boxes. There are over 140 examples including 54 boxes made in Paris during the eighteenth and early nineteeth centuries. Illustrated throughout in color with 494 color plates in volume 1. La vida del Bienaventurado Francisco de Posadas (1644-1713) beatificado en 1818, está plagada de hechos singulares que llenan la escena cordobesa del Siglo XVII. Salvo una corta estancia como predicador de los mineros de Almadén, su dedicación se centró en la atención de las almas y la beneficencia. Como escritor se le debe, entre otras, una obra intitulada "El Triunfo de la Castidad contra los Errores de Molinos", y como guardián de la moral no cabe olvidar su decisoria actuación para que fuese prohibida la representación de Comedias por el Ayuntamiento de Córdoba.

Hector Boethius [or Boece] (1465-1536), first principal of the University of Aberdeen, is known for two important works of medieval Scottish history: the 'Historia Gentis Scotorum' (Paris, 1527) and his earlier Lives of the Bishops of Murthlack and Aberdeen (Paris, 1522). Of the latter work, a facsimile text in the original Latin was issued by the Bannatyne Club (publication no. 11) in 1825. The present edition remains the sole published transliteration.
