1995GC-016
Richard Pryor signed this 1995 Pantheon first edition of Pryor Convictions and Other Life Sentences on the title page. Pryor is widely regarded as the most influential stand-up comedian of the twentieth century — the artist who made unflinching honesty about race addiction and pain into something transcendent. This memoir co-written with Todd Gold is as raw and unguarded as his best material.

A note worth making: by the mid-1990s Pryor's multiple sclerosis had progressed to the point that he typically used a custom rubber stamp rather than signing by hand at public events. A genuine hand signature on a book from this period is therefore more notable than it might otherwise be and the signature visible in the photos is a flowing hand signature not a stamp. First edition hardcover jacket intact with light wear. No missing pages no dog-ears.

For collectors of African American cultural history and comedy a signed first edition of Pryor's memoir is a meaningful find.

This book is from the personal collection of Captain Thomas Goode a Black United States Air Force officer who was shot down in Cambodia and who spent his lifetime and considerable means pursuing signed books directly from their authors. He regularly traveled for the purpose of acquiring books and having them autographed in person. The collection is being liquidated through his estate by Joanne O'Donnell his U.S. military-designated beneficiary and power of attorney. A notarized affidavit from James O'Donnell sworn before an Alameda County California notary public on April 17 2026 attests under penalty of perjury to the provenance and authenticity of the entire collection.

Biblio Listing Fields:

• SKU/Book ID: GC-016

• Title: Pryor Convictions and Other Life Sentences — Signed First Edition

• Author: Richard Pryor with Todd Gold

• Price: $140

• ISBN: 0-679-43250-7

• Publisher: Pantheon Books

• Year: 1995

• Format/Binding: Hardcover

• Book Condition: Very Good

• Jacket Condition: Very Good — intact light wear

• First Edition: Yes

• Signed: Yes

• Signed: Yes — hand-signed on title page not a stamp; see note in description

• First Edition: Yes

• Dust Jacket: Present — Very Good light wear

• Binding: Tight

• Pages: Light yellowing; clean

• Authentication: Notarized affidavit Alameda County CA April 17 2026

• Keywords: Richard Pryor signed Pryor Convictions autobiography African American comedy
Pantheon Books hardcover
