Gothic Script.<br>Second edition of Henrich Palmaz Leveling's German translation or Ingolstadt edition after the first of 1781.<br>This second Ingolstadt edition of only 1500 exemplars features beyond twohundred 200 in-text engravings printed from Vesalius’s original woodblocks; the woodblocks were destroyed during the WWII bombings of Munich. Leveling not only translated this work but introduced updated information often relying on the French Winslow as information source. Size: Folio 396x274mm. Good Minus. 8vo. 20 568 pp. With fifteen woodcut plates with frontis one for each canto of the Aenied and one for the Bucolica and Georgica respectively. Some soiling throughout. All leaves of the Bucolica and a few of the Georgica have severe wormholing in the lower corner with only trivial touching of text. A few other leaves have corners overtrimmed or with loss. Schlosser Magnino La Letteratura Artistica p. 656 points out that this was a defense of Sir Joshua Reynolds and introduced many English travelers to Italian painting. "Winckelmann realised that much of its text is derived from a similar book written a little earlier by the eminent painter Anton Mengs" but it was the text by Webb that influenced classicism in England. Over 260 leaves seems complete with quite a number of small woodcut illustrations 2.75 x 1.5 inches on average. Tseno Ureno sometimes called the Women's Bible is a Yiddish-language prose work whose structure parallels the weekly Torah portions and Haftorahs used in Jewish prayer services. The book was written by Jacob ben Isaac Ashkenazi 1550–1625 of Janów Lubelski near Lublin Poland and mixes Biblical passages with teachings from Judaism's Oral Torah such as the Talmud's Aggadah and Midrash which are sometimes called "parables allegories short stories anecdotes legends and admonitions" by secular writers.
