It opens with an extensive 108-page critical introduction by Ê¿Abd al-WahhÄb Ê¿AzzÄm Professor at the Egyptian University followed by the main text in two sections of 389 and 343 pages respectively. The volume is illustrated with several finely reproduced plates of Persian miniature paintings.</p><p>The Arabic text is based on the medieval translation by al-Fatḥ b. Ê¿AlÄ« al-BindÄrÄ« d. 643 AH / 1245 AD one of the earliest and most significant Arabic renderings of FerdowsÄ«'s Persian epic.
