Momento che può situarsi variamente, a seconda delle situazioni storiche locali, tra la fine del Quattrocento e l'inizio del Seicento. In questo arco di tempo, la Toscana, e in particolare Firenze, esercita un ruolo particolare: il suo volgare da espressione regionale passa ad essere una lingua nazionale, rafforzandosi sempre di più nell'Ottocento.
