Instead all of the imprint information is on the title page or gleaned from the last page. . COLOR ILLUSTRATED WITH PERIOD PHOTOS OF LIN & MAO: . With color inset photograph of Marshal LIN Biao reading Chairman Mao's "QUOTATIONS." . THREE LIN BIAO SLOGANS AFTER THE TITLE PAGE: . a. "Our great mentor great leader great commander Long live the great helmsman Chairman Mao long live! Long live! Lin Biao." See our website illus06.jpg. . b. "The sea sails by the helmsman and the revolution depends on Mao Zedong thought." See our website illus07.jpg. . c. "Read Chairman Mao's book listen to Chairman Mao's words follow Chairman Mao's instructions & be a good soldier of Chairman Mao." See our website illus08.jpg. . LIN BIAO 1907-1971: . Lin became instrumental in creating the foundations for Mao Zedong's cult of personality in the early 1960s and was rewarded for his service in the Cultural Revolution by being named Mao's designated successor as the sole Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of China from 1966 until his death. . Lin was also the creator of the "HONG BAOSHU" "LITTLE RED BOOK" phenomenon consisting of any small book containing the words of either Mao or Lin including slogans. These kinds of "HONG BAOSHU" were religiously carried by Hong Wei Bing to mass rallies in Tiananmen Square on the march in the street and at during demonstrations invoking these leaders words and taunting citizens throughout China. . Often these books were contained in a small red cotton cloth shoulder purse that had yellow-stenciled slogans & images of these two leaders. . Lin & Chairman Mao welcomed and greeted a mass rally in Tiananmen Square in 1966 by the HONG WEI BING RED GUARDS. These two great leaders sanctioned and endorsed the RED GUARDS to begin the WEN HUA DA GEMING CULTURAL REVOLUTION and were officially authorized to "cleanse society" of counter-revolutionary thoughts landlords intellectuals and any others who represented anything less than the new wave of revolutionary thoughts and actions. Chaos reigned for nearly ten years. . Chairman Mao assigned Lin Biao as the leader of the Hong Wei Bing thereafter he focused his attention to leading and Bing guiding these youths who quickly got out of control wreaking havoc throughout the country. . A young woman at the rally pinned a "HONG WEI BING" armband on Chairman Mao thus showing Mao's support and authorization for the Cultural Revolution. This has become an iconic photograph. . Lin died in September 13 1971 the exact events of this "Lin Biao incident" have been a source of speculation ever since. The Chinese government's official explanation is that Lin and his family attempted to flee following a botched coup against Mao. Others have argued that they fled out of fear they would be purged as Lin's relationship with other Communist Party leaders. . Following Lin's death he was officially condemned in September 1972 as a traitor by the Communist Party. He was labeled a major "counter-revolutionary force" of the Cultural Revolution receiving official blame from the Chinese government. . At that time Lin's name photos books writings posters & library books were officially ordered expunged from all public places his books were either defaced removing his name photo and signature. . A very large majority of his works were destroyed or defaced. Finding a book by Lin or books with his calligraphic slogans and signature are now RARE and difficult to find. Millions were destroyed. . Upon Mao's death the Cultural Revolution was officially ordered to stop however being in 'motion' it took another two years for it to actually end. . THE POSTSCRIPT: We translate: "Postscript: We have compiled "Comrade Lin Biao's Quotations" with love for Chairman Mao and feelings for Vice-President Lin's proletariat. For newcomer soldiers to learn." See our website illus10.jpg for this text. . Color photos are posted to our website. . REFERENCE: . en-wikipedia-org/wiki/Lin_Biao . . unknown
17715647Mexico: Joseph Antonio de Hogal 1771. Good. 16144pp. Small octavo. Title page in red and black. Lacks two leaves of text D1-D2. Contemporary vellum manuscript spine title edges sprinkled red. Vellum with minor soiling light wear to edge and spine ends plus two flaws in rear cover. Front free endpaper loosening. A few minor wormholes; light tanning and scattered foxing. Scarce Mexican translation of Catholic works by St. Francis de Sales 16th- and 17th-century Swiss theologian. Sales was a prolific writer but the present work contains two treatises in letter form the first to an unnamed bishop on the proper manner of preaching and the second to the priests of the Genevan diocese on the methods of taking confession. He was canonized in 1665 and in the early-20th century was declared the patron saint of journalists and writers. The translator Lino Nepomuceno Gomez Galvan was a legal and religious official in Tampico and the surrounding area whose stated goal in the introduction of this work is that it might assist in the reform and improvement of Church ministrations in his region. Unfortunately lacking two leaves of text but neverthelass quite a scarce Puebla imprint from the Hogal family of printers with an attractive title page printed in red and black.
