This rare original dust-jacket is printed on verso with an illustrated publisher's catalogue. In a very good condition. ~ First edition. Rare early printing with dust-jacket, the words "with full details of its" do not appear yet in the title. This particular copy comes from the bequest of renowned uniform historian and researcher Dr. Pieter Roelse and includes, loosely inserted, a large number of rare newspaper and magazine photographs related to the book's subject. The clippings are often additionally captioned in neat hand, and source and date are often given. Rare period material is included. Many of these clippings correspond directly to illustrations in the book and enhance image and word, providing extra, useful reference. Two old clippings of coloured art portraits of Hitler youth are tipped-in onto first paste-down and first free endpaper. It should be noted that this material, the result of a lifelong research, study, and collection is provided herewith strictly as-is, subject to what is present in the books.

Issued in twelve original parts, housed in eleven very large publisher's portfolios. 400 x 515 mm. (about 16" x 20"). Printed on Japan vellum throughout. Illustrated with wonderful monochrome photogravure engravings and plates. There are no color plates in this set, nor do any seem called for. The original paper wrappers for the parts are brittle, but this is of little concern because the portfolios act as wraps. There is some soiling and wear, here and there, but generally this is a very nice set of the most deluxe edition. Number 225 of a total edition limited to only 500 copies. Howes W79.
