19322801591932. unbound. very good. These historically-important contracts were issued in 1932 by Mascot films at the height of their success releasing cliff-hanger shorts to the movie industry. The signatures include Monte Montague 1889 - 1959 a seasoned Western actor who appeared in more than 100 films signing a contract agreeing to appear in the film "The Shadow Of The Eagle" January 26 1932 to play the part of Calhoun at the rate of $75.00 per week. Also included is John Trent 1906 - 1966 a commercial pilot turned actor. He really flew planes in the pictures he was in but was never comfortable acting. This contract arranges for Trent to appear in the film "The Whispering Shadow" December 4 1932 at the rate of $75.00 per week. Mascot finally figured out he couldn't act so they cancelled the film! Both items are in very good condition.<br/> <br/> American film company of the 1920s and 1930s best remembered for producing and distributing film serials with "cliff hangers" and B-westerns. They bought out Sennett Studios when Mack Sennett went bankrupt during the great depression and later were absorbed into Republic Pictures in time to reap the rewards of television syndication.<br/> <br/> unknown

No doubt used as a sales tool demonstrating how thoroughly the company could build and test crates for reliable performance.<br /> <br /> The tenth edition of Industrial Research Laboratories of the United States 1956 locates the Atlas Plywood Corporation's Department of Research and Design at 431 Market Street Lawrence Mass. the same address as on the card cover of this folder hence our approximate dating.
