This collection of proceedings by the Bunhill Fields Preservation Committee documents the Corporation of London's efforts to ensure the safety of the Bunhill Fields Burial Ground as the Corporation's lease was nearing its end Christmas 1867. Bunhill had been a burying ground of Nonconformists and other denominations since the sixteenth century. With the work of the committee the Corporation obtained an Act of Parliament in 1867 preserving the burial ground as an open landscaped space with seating gardens and the restoration of some of it most noteworthy monuments including John Bunyan Daniel Defoe and William Blake. The appendix contains a reprint of a rare tract from 1717 "Inscription on the Tombs in the Dissenters' Burial Place near Bunhill Fields." Some wear to edges of binding else fine. unknown books

An early example of transmission of visual information over networks a promotional pamphlet from RCA on the wireless transmission of images as a boon to business banking news and law enforcement; RCA offers the service between New York and London and between San Francisco and Honolulu. One image here is a letter dated 1927; the service between San Francisco and London directly did not open until 1929. With a fairly detailed lay explanation of the technology behind the scanning transmission and printing of these images over long distances; the cost here quoted is $16 per inch of image transmitted. In very good condition.<br/><br/> This appealing map was issued for the 1965 New York World's Fair and details greater New York and the Worlds Fair grounds. Printed on both sides one side depicts the fairgrounds the Flushing Meadows Corona Park and labels all important buildings walks avenues pavilions exhibits and concessions. Transportation lines are also noted throughout. Color coding marks the areas for exhibits of 'Federal and States' 'Industrial' 'International' 'Lake' and 'Transportation'. The New York World's Fair was the third largest world's fair held in New York with over 51 million visitors and is best remembered for its showcase of mid-20th century American culture and technology. The New York Pavilion featured a 166 foot wide terrazzo tile road map that visitors could walk on. The map is in good condition and nicely preserved.<br/><br/> C.S. Hammond & Co unknown books
