Original pictorial silk binding and paper dust jacket. Dust jacket is missing a v-shaped chip at the head of the spine and the spine of the book is faded in the same spot. Otherwise a lovely copy with slight fraying of the cloth at the extremities and some glue staining to the front hinge which appears to have been repaired. Very good although rebacked with original end pages with gilt text stamping on the spine it is in its original blind embossed cloth covered boards with an embossed gilt laurel seal on the front board. An octavo of 8 3/4 by 5 3/4 inches with the cloth at the tips of the boards and lower edges of the boards worn through. There is a dampness stain on the front end sheets and foxing throughout the contents. Without a dust jacket. 620 pages of text and illustrated with a hand-colored double frontis and with 120 from engravings. The hand-colored fold-out map of the New England states New York Pennsylvania and New Jersey follows page 8 and suffers only from multiple creases and very minor losses to the margins several other maps within the text and a number of plates.
