4491A pair of stylized and detailed ensembles: an 18th century fantasy gown and hair style signed in full ca 1915; a winter outfit with fur trimmed jacket and long decorative skirt ca 1911. The fantasy costume drawing measures 10 3/8 x 8 7/8 inches. Condition: two marginal tears not affecting drawing and light foxing near the breaks. Tipped onto a mat and framed. Frame measures 15 x 17 inches. The winter outfit is drawn on cream toned art paper and is lighter than shown in the accompanying image. The drawing measures 11 x 8.5 and the frame measures 12 x 16 inches. Barbier considered one of the great illustrators of the early 20th century led a group of artists from the Beaux Arts School known for their flamboyance as much as their art. Barbier designed jewelry glass and wallpapers in addition to his costume and set designed for theater ballet and the Follies Bergére. His stylized design has become iconic. unknown books

The late Sixties found the magazine concentrating more on local and national news of interest to gay men.The final years saw the magazine turn more to a standard gay men's magazine with photos of young men from around the Bay Area.
