Davison forward the uncorrected proof copy and then adds "I thought you were the perfect devil's advocate if that is the right term of the TV version of Pound. Carpenter is the d.a. in print: I like his irony and skepticism. P." Peter Davison was a poet and editor. His first collection of poetry "The Breaking of the Day" won coveted publication in the Yale Younger Poets series. Davison published 11 volumes of poetry that won praise from figures like Alfred Kazin and W.S. Merwin. He spent four decades as a literary editor for the Atlantic Monthly Press and Houghton Mifflin and 30 years as poetry editor of The Atlantic Monthly.
