19049485New York: The Health-Culture Company 1904. Small octavo 19 x 13 cm. 246 pages. Stated Second Edition from author's preface of this early raw food cookbook. The authors' argument tends to be twofold: that early man ate raw foods and it was good enough for him; and that cooking saps food of its nutrients. Includes an interesting collection of recipes primarily though not entirely vegetarian. Internally clean and sound. Publisher’s gilt-stamped dark blue cloth is dampstained otherwise very good. Previous owner’s ownership inscription to front fly. Laid-in is a small broadsheet "Christian's Natural Food Co. Price List. 1909" The Health-Culture Company hardcover

H1008Frankfurt Brönnersche Buchhandlung 1831 S. 238-269. Gesamtumfang: XIV einschl. Titel 2 Bl. Inhalt 719 S. 1 Bl. Errata. März 1780 schrieb Forster an Banks. Auch hier erwähnt er Lichtenbergs Abhandlung: "From such materials as my father and myself had furnished Prof. has compiled a little imperfect sketch of Cook's Life & Character which was already printed when those materials arrived which You so kindly sent me. I believe in the main the account given of him will however be consonant with these and it is such as does the moste ample Justice to his abilities & to his great merits. He certainly was an extraordinary man whose worth needed not the gloss of art to set it off. Sherwin's plate reduced & copied accompanies this sketch."
