The attribution of the ?Liber de coquina? and its related recipe books to Frederick II?s sponsorship (from ab. 1230-1250) leads to the discovery of the opulent cuisine of the Court of Palermo, rooted in Sicily, but with strong Arab traits transmitted and modified through Norman/Swabian influences. By the early 14th century, this first ?Italian? gastronomic culture was fully accepted in Tuscany (together with the vernacular Sicilian poetry), and from there it spread through the Italian peninsula. 530 gr. 284 p.
