Huit d'entre eux comportent dans les angles des tirages des repères tracés à l'encre visant à les caler lors de leur reproduction et au verso, l'annotation "tel" : ce sont ces tirages qui ont été reproduits, exactement au même format, dans le catalogue de la Galerie de France (pp. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 et 13). Le dernier tirage, représentant trois dessins de Folon posés sur sa table de travail, ne figure pas dans le catalogue : il est inédit.

Elfriede Reichelt (1883 in Breslau; 1953 in Grünwald bei München) war eine deutsche Kunstfotografin. Zu ihrer Zeit zählte sie zu den bekanntesten Berufsfotografinnen Deutschlands. Sie studierte als eine der ersten Frauen von 1906 bis 1908 an der Münchner Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Photographie und war Schülerin des deutsch-amerikanischen Piktorialisten Frank Eugene. 197016443JCulver City: Metro-Golwyn-Mayer Studios 1970s. The original "Myrna Loy Building" metal sign from the M.G.M. Hollywood Studio lot. In the 1970s the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio started naming various buildings after their classic film stars. Myrna Loy was alive and well at the time of the naming of her building. This sign was acquired by a gentleman who worked as a carpenter on the lot for many years. His accompanying letter reads: During the middle 1980's 85 to 89 I Michael McGovern worked at the old M.G.M. lot Studios in Culver City California in the Permanent Construction Dept. The lot was sold several times in this time frame. At one point before the now Sony Studios it was owned and named Lorimar Telepictues. When the lot was Lorimar Telepictures they were painting and changing the M.G.M. lot to the new Lorimar "look." Thus the signs Blue and Gold naming the building after the old M.G.M. stars were taken down and replaced with the new signs brown and white that matched the Lorimar colors. I asked my boss if it was OK to keep the signs I changed and he said it was fine with him. Myrna Loy is best known for her portrayal of "Nora Charles" in six Thin Man films with William Powell of the 1930s but also starred in Manhattan Melodrama Libeled Lady Test Pilot The Best Years of our Lives Cheaper by the Dozen and From the Terrace. Her film career spanned more than 50 years Accompanied by a copy of Mr. McGovern's "Prop Maker" ID card. The sign measures 18 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches and presents with some obvious wear from the elements like extremely small areas of rust and signs of use overall in excellent condition. Today the studio lot is owned by Sony and it houses both Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures. The Myrna Loy Building which was the old MGM sound department exists and it still proudly bears her name. Très beau dessin par un maître du genre. Mark Miller, born Marshall Dawson Miller, was an internationally renowned illustrator whose work was published in most of the world. His life and career took him from Oklahoma to Hollywood to New York and Europe. Born in Eldorado, Oklahoma on Jan. 2, 1919, Miller grew up on a cotton farm, studied art at the University of Oklahoma (where he took the name Mark) and then moved to Los Angeles where he attended the Chouinard Art Institute and later got his start as a costume designer for 20th Century Fox in Hollywood. After WW II, he moved to New York where he had a had a long career as an artist that culminated in the 1950s and 60s when he was an illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post and other leading magazines like Colliers, Good Housekeeping, McCall’s, Redbook, Cosmopolitan and many magazines throughout Europe, South America and Australia. In describing the humble beginnings of his career, Miller has said, “My choice of an art career did not have the enthusiastic support of my conservative family back in OK. From their point of view, it was clearly my duty as the eldest son to help run the family farms, and they tolerated my errant pursuit of art only in the certainty that it would become as clear to me as it was to them that I couldn’t make a living at it.
