Title translates as: “Haggadah Seder; Narrative of the Exodus of Israel from Egypt. â€<br> An edition of the famous Heidenheim German-Hebrew Haggadah published in the Land of Israel around 1900 by the Association for the Austro-Hungarian Bohemian-Moravian Community of Jerusalem Palestine. <br> Heidenheim's German-Hebrew hagadah became the standard hagadah in householdsacross Germany for much of the 19th and early 20th Century. Wolf Heidenheim 1757–1832 is among the most recognizable Jewish publishers and exegetes of the 19th century. In 1798 he received a license to establish a German and Hebrew press in partnership with Baruch Baschwitz. In 1800 Heidenheim began the publication of his most famous work the nine-volume edition of the mahzor Sefer Kerovot Roedelheim 1800–02 which went through numerous printings. The work included the first pure German translation in Hebrew characters of the liturgical poems for the festivals a Hebrew commentary and a literary historical introduction. He was in Chillicothe Ohio by 1815. He was advertising in the local paper. He then left and became the mayor of St. Louis . There is a lot of discussion about whether he was Jewish. Massie a Virginian originally laid 456 lots on his own land to establish Chillicothe promising free plots to the first 100 settlers. Chillicothe became the center of political life in the Northwest Territory attracting prominent politicians and later Governors of Ohio; Thomas Worthington and Edward Tiffin. In 1800 Chillicothe became the capital of the Northwest Territory and in 1802 hosted the Ohio Constitutional Convention later becoming the first capital of Ohio at statehood in 1803.<br> Chillicothe remained Ohio's capital until 1810 when it was briefly moved to Zanesville only to return to Chillicothe two years later. Written by English astrologer Richard James Morrison who was commonly known under his pseudonym 'Zadkiel the Seer'. Morrison wrote a number of works on the subject of astronomy and was best known for his series 'Zadkiel's Almanac'. In this particular work Morrison provides details explanations surrounding different areas of astrology including the zodiac signs the planets the twelve houses of heaven and much more. The author also demonstrates the way in which to calculate the nativity or birth chart of an individual depicting the planet alignment at the moment they were born.With twelve pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In 1874 his obituary noted he was 80 and had devoted neary 50 years to 'the peudo-science of astrology'. His most successful publication was known as 'Zadkiel's Almanack' and sold annually with with an imprint of 100000-200000 copies at sixpence each !! In 1863 a court declared him not an imbecile and an imposter in a famous libel case involving Admiral Sir Edward Belcher. Morrison was awarded 20 shillings but no costs. The binder has supplied floral-patterned endsheets both fore and aft but the pastedowns are blanks and the halves of both endsheets constitute interstitial leaves extra blanks as it were; these perfectly unmolested. This copy with a presentation from Sir Frederick Augustus Abel to the renowned natural philosopher John Tyndall inscribed and signed by Abel at the top of the front wrapper. From the time he became ordnance chemist at the Royal Military Academy at Woolwich till his retirement in 1888 Abel 1827-1902 was the chief government authority on all matters connected with explosives and the man who invented the smokeless propellant cordite in 1889 in collaboration with Sir James Dewer. "He was a member of the ordnance select committee was expert for submarine defense and smokeless powder and from 1888 until his death was president of the explosives committee. The transformation of arms and ammunition which took place during his thirty-four years of service at Woolwich necessarily occupied the greater part of his scientific career though almost ever branch of technical science was enriched by his labours" DNB. Sir Frederick invented an instrument to test the flash point of petroleum products electrical fuses and other applications of electricity to warlike purposes. He was knighted in 1891. The report was prepared by C. W. Younghusband at the request of J. H. Lefroy Master of Ordnance.
