C'est ce que cette exposition tente de démontrer. Ali Borovali, né à Istanbul, est diplômé en sciences administratives à l'université Bogaziçi. Il poursuit ses études postuniversitaires en Floride aux Etats-Unis dans le même domaine. Il y étudie également la photographie et plus tard s'oriente vers le photoreportage. Ses reportages ont été publiés dans des revues telles qu'Atlas, GEO, National Geographic Traveler, Discovery Magazine etc. Il a acquis une renommée mondiale également du fait des expositions qu'il a organisées aux 4 coins du globe, notamment au salon de la photo Photokina à Cologne, au festival international du photojournalisme Visa Pour L'Image à Perpignan en France ou encore au festival FotoArt en Pologne. Lauréat de nombreux prix, il a été distingué comme le meilleur photojournaliste en Turquie et nommé par Fujifilm pour le prix Euro-Press Award en Europe. Conjointement avec cette exposition, le réseau de l'Institut français dans le monde proposera, dans 70 pays et 100 villes, "La Nuit des idées - L'Imagination au pouvoir", une série de débats d'idées internationaux et interdisciplinaires.
