A VG/NF copy light soiling and age toning to edges of wrappers corners a bit rubbed internally clean and bright. 8 pp. Profusely illustrated by Mladen Mileff. 4" x 5-1/2" <br/><br/>A BBQ restaurant located at 162 Turk Street in San Francisco. Set up like a book with a introduction titled "On Dining" a "Table of Contents" page numbers and on the lower wrapper a place for notes. This menu also includes a wine and champagne list as well as cocktails and beer. Old Dixie Bar-B-Q restaurant can be found in the 1951 San Francisco City Directory. However there is no directory for the years 1950 or 1952. Old Dixie is not listed in the 1948-49 or the 1953 directory. A rare piece of BBQ history in the Bay Area. Allied Printing unknown books

Quote from Dickens.In 1908 the owners of the Poodle Dog the Old Poodle Dog John Bergez Restaurant and Frank's Rotisserie merged their businesses opening Bush Street and Claude Lane under Lalanne with partners Jean B. Pon Jean Bergez Louis Coutard and Camille Mailhebeau. The restaurant now boasted five floors; the top floor offered a ballroom. A side door mimicked the earlier establishment with a birdcage elevator that took the men and their "companions" upstairs. They brought the elegance of the Nineties back to San Francisco as the Bergez-Franks Old Poodle Dog. The cuisine reflected the skills of some of the finest French chefs in the city but also included innovations unique to San Francisco. Book is in excellent condition with foxing and dust on the upper page ends, some foxing on side page ends also. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no other blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind except for previous owner's inscription on half title page. Dust jacket shows the slightest signs of shelf wear only, no tears. Initialed by Andy on title page in black marker at half title page. Price-clipped dust jacket with some chipping at top of spine and corners, now wrapped in clear protective cover. Publisher's page has the words "First Editon" above the letters "B C D E"
