30659c. 1931. 1 épreuve 65 x 40 mm en noir imprimée sur vergé encadrée. .
1933549298New York: Julien Levy Gallery 1933. Softcover. Near Fine. Program. Single sheet measuring 5½" x 12½". Purplish-pink foil on one side and white on the other printed in black folded twice to form a 5½" x 4¼" pamphlet with two illustrations. Near fine with crease to lower right corner and light edgewear. An original program to Salvador Dalí's first solo New York exhibition held at the Julien Levy Gallery from November 21 to December 8 1933. The announcement includes a list of the 26 paintings on exhibit and includes two illustrations; one of those being Dali's iconic painting The Persistence of Memory which debuted only the year before at Levy's Surrealist Exposition alongside other notable artist such as Max Ernst and Marcel Duchamp. Dali would embrace New York over the next decade staging a series of shows and attracting enormous attention with his works and outrageous persona cementing his place as one of the world's most influential artist of the 20th Century. Rare. OCLC locates no copies of this important program. Julien Levy Gallery unknown
193322613New York: Julien Levy Gallery 1933. Single sheet. Very Good. A wonderful piece of Surrealist ephemera and one of the great early Julien Levy catalogues. The scarce historic November-December 1933 catalogue/announcement of Salvador Dali's first solo exhibition in America. 26 listed paintings followed by a Dali essay and 2 Dali illustrations. All on a single purple sheet folded into thirds. Light creasing at all 3 panels renders this copy a VG to VG rather than a Near Fine but happily the fragile catalogue remains bright and very presentable. This copy also boasts superb provenance having come directly from the family of artist --and Julien Levy patron-- Joseph Cornell and before that from his house itself famously on Utopia Parkway in Flushing Queens New York.
