He suffered severely from the affects of Rheumatism which made it at times difficult for him to even hold a quill in his hand which may account for the unusual sloppiness of his penmanship in this letter. Item is evenly toned on lined paper which made it easier for Manet to control his handwriting when constructing sentences. Prints two months with title pages for each and colored frontispieces for each the first by Francois Flameng the second by Millet. September has an article on Soho by Filon illustrated by Flameng Charles d'Hericault on Marat with several plates Geffroy's article on Rodin including several plates of sculptures and what appears to be an original etching by Rodin of Victor Hugo some foxing to top edge of sheet not affecting image; the second part of "Xaviere by Fabre with plates by Boutet de Monvel Sarcey's essay on Mounet-Sully of the Comedie Francaise with etching of the actor by Geux after a painting by Chartran.
