Includes 3 original lithographs: the cover frontispiece and title page. As well as 166 colored illustrations. The cover is illustrated and wrapped in a glassine jacket missing the spine. Georges Braque's lithographs particularly from his later career post-1945 are known for their rich colors painterly textures and exploration of recurring themes like birds still lifes and mythological figures using the medium's ability to layer colors and create visual intensity often departing from strict representation to imbue objects with symbolic universal meaning within abstracted forms. He embraced lithography as a more painterly technique than etching developing a distinct vibrant style in his later years characterized by thick expressive strokes and complex color harmonies. .
