212
With the Picasso plate in two colours: a fine group with Dadaist flavour related to the first experimental "ball" of the Union of Russian Artists in Paris which included as member Mikhail Larionov Natalia Goncharova and Ilia Zdanevich Iliazd among others.
The printed programme is a typographical and artistic masterpiece with participations of Juan Gris Derain Picasso and Goncharova incorporating poems by French and Russian artists such as Tristan Tzara. The typography was perhaps unsurprisingly conceived by Iliazd who also played a major role in the original idea of such 'balls' gathering an international and Parisian avant-garde.
The programme of the event was eclectic featuring a Russian piece a Japanese 'village party' by Foujita and a popular song on the Venice festival many with choreography and costumes by Larionov and Goncharova.
Includes the large striking ticket designed by Larionov often found on its own.

Description
Large 4to 33 x 26 cm and 2 sheets 50 x 13 and 22 x 27.7 cm. Programme: 12 pp. with one tipped-in illustration after Derain lithographs texts and illustrations one by Picasso coloured in pastel blue and yellow; ticket: black and orange lithograph on beige paper designed by Larionov; handbill: black lithograph on coloured paper designed by Larionov.
Binding
Sheets loose as issued programme in printed pictorial wrappers.
Condition
Very minor wear creasing or browning at extremities handbill with fold in the centre but overall in appealing fresh condition.
Francois Bernouard for Union des Artistes Russes, Paris, 1923
