Eluard offered him A toute épreuve a painful memory of his break with Gala who left him for Dali. He also offered him his old friend Joan Miró who could illustrate his poems with whom Gérald Cramer immediately made contact. From this meeting through letters one of the great adventures of Western illustration was born. From 1947 for the needs of the company contacts multiplied between the artist and the publisher: meetings telephone interviews telegrams exhibitions . and letters.This correspondence which lasts almost thirty-five years remains one of the tangible signs of this fruitful relationship.
