The ark floats as water floods the land and people try to save each other from drowning -cited Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. From a complete set of 50 paintings of the Raphael Bible etched by Sisto Badalocchio and Giovanni Lanfranco after RaphaelÕs frescoes in the loggias of the Vatican. Lanfranco 1582-1647 ranks alongside Pietro da Cortona 1596-1669 and Guercino 1591-1666 as one of the leading Old Masters of High Baroque painting in Rome. A master of visual illusion his architectural and easel work had a very strong influence on painting in Naples inspiring many Baroque artists. Excellent impression some minor soiling minor edge wear cut just outside borders some wrinkle to corners where adhered to old paper backing signed by artist in print at bottom left corner numbered Ô48Õ at lower right corner. King Solomon presiding over the dispute between two mothers about which was the real parent of a baby boy - cited by Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. The first work has 43 numbered plates beginning with a dedication: "Eminentissimo ac reuerendissimo Principi Camillo Maximo S.R.E. Cardinali amplissimo." The 43 plates were engraved by Pietro Santo Bartoli and are complete.<br /> Bound with: "D. Nicolao Simonello picturae omiumque bonarum artium cultori eximio." 15 engraved plates complete.<br /> Bound with: "Serenissimo Principi Medices Leonis X admirandae virtutis imagines ab Hetruriae legatione ad Pontificatum a Raphaeli Urbinata ad vivum et ad miraculum expressas in Aulaeis Vaticanis." 15 engraved plates complete.<br /> The dedicatee of the first work Carlo Cardinal Massimo was created a cardinal in 1670; he died in 1677. This helps date the present work. <br /> The engravings are printed on one side only of each leaf. The leaves are bound along the left side in a contemporary or near contemporary binding of quarter leather gilt spine rules decorated paper boards. Bad Pfäfers beschrieben durch den Stadtarzt von Neuburg an der Donau. Laut VD17 ist beim Titel über Karlsbad kein Drucktitel nachweisbar hingegen fehlt offenbar eine Kupfertafel beim Band «Waldbad zu Pfeffers». Titelblätter sehr stark gebräunt und fleckig. Das Papier knapp beschnitten stellenweise mit leichtem Textverlust. Im Innenfalz mit durchgehendem Wasserrand. Papierbezug am Rücken angeplatzt. unknown
