The magazine "Biombo Negro" appeared more or less every three months from 1993 until the end of 1994 when it ceased due to the national economic crisis. BN was a consequence and result of the literary workshop founded by Lourdes -la Cocinera Atrevida- Hernández in 1991 in the neighborhood of Tepito and whose participants met every Tuesday to have dinner read discuss and produce crime literature. The group of dinner guests included: Rafael El Fisgón Barajas Maru Camacho Elías Canelo who lives in Panamá Rosina Conde Felipe Ehrenberg Magdalena Flores Peñafiel Mónica Frías Ricardo Guzmán Wolffer Antonio Helguera Roberto Hernández Fuentes Juan José Díaz Infante Jessica Kreimerman Marcos Límenes Cristina Múgica Francisco Rocha Andrés Ruiz Carmen Ruiz Lilia Soto Aragón Romeo Tello and Armando Vega-Gil. In 1993 Felipe Ehrenberg proposed to Lourdes and the other diners to create a publication of the stories produced by "the diners of crime". Using a small computer and Wordperfect 51 editing images on the same table where they had dinner printing in a workshop around the corner from the house they published Biombo Negro a magazine named in honor of the legendary magazine "Black Mask" one of the first to give birth to the genre of pulp crime fiction and to have such an influence on its development throughout the world.
