In 8° (21,5 x 13,5 cm); (4), IV, 468 pp. Bella legatura coeva in mezza pelle scura con titolo e fregi in oro al dorso. Al piatto anteriore bello stemma impresso in oro che caratterizza il volume come un premio donato dal Liceo di Rennes (qualche strofinatura leggera). L’opera ripercorre la vita e la produzione artistica del grande pittore francese originario di Les Andelys, Nicolas Poussin, che con il suo orientamento classico fu riferimento basilare di grandi pittori come Jacques-Louis David e Paul Cézanne. Diventa celebre dal 1623 quando esegue sei tavole che raccontano la vita di Ignazio di Loyola per i gesuiti. In seguito all’incontro con Giambattista Marino (il celebre Cavalier Marino), poeta alla corte dei Medici entra in contatto con le ricche famiglie nobili romane che commissionano numerosi lavori. In particolare suo mecenate diventa il Cardinal Barberini. Poussin studiò anche ottica, geometria e prospettiva. Qualche leggera fioritura e per il resto in buone condizioni, arricchito dalla bella legatura.
