This is a near fine softcover copy with almost no wear. Completely clean inside and out. This is a sale catalog for an auction held at Ader Tajan in Paris on December 19, 1994. The sale consisted of the last works of the famed Atelier Degas which were not auctioned right after the artist's death. These last works went to Edgar Degas' niece. These works make up the present sale. All from the Degas studio and in his family by descent to the present owner. Text of essay in English and French. 19 lots in the sale. All illustrated in color. Several self-portraits, including a remarkable one in oil. Several drawings and a painting of Rene De Gas. Two bronzes of horses and riders. Stato discreto, sovraccoperta originale illustrata in carta patinata, su recto Donna che si asciuga, 1903, bordo appena sfregato, strappo, lieve ingiallimento, macchietta, coperta rigida in tessuto, caratteri dorati in bassorilievo sul dorso, minima ammaccatura, taglio di testa poco ambrato, pagine, in carta patinata, ben conservate, lieve abrasione e macchie su guardia. Presenta antiporta con illustrazione in b. e n. a tutta pagina, testo posto su due colonne, illustrazioni in b. e n. ed a colori. ill., br. Degas era un brillante ritrattista, ma soprattutto amava dipingere le dinamiche del movimento, i cavalli in corsa o i passi aggraziati delle danzatrici. Sperimentatore accanito, alla ricerca di un realismo che fosse veramente tale, non trascurava quelli che erano allora i nuovi traguardi tecnici, come la fotografia. Perfezionista e riservato, la sua intera esistenza è stata dedicata esclusivamente all'arte.
