FONDO DI MAGAZZINO: PERFETTO E INTONSO Tra la fine del XVIII e i primi decenni del XIX secolo, nell'età delle rivoluzioni (politiche, economiche, culturali), l'Europa fu attraversata da trasformazioni storiche ed antropologiche essenziali. Nell'ambito della cultura e delle arti, il movimento che più di altri seppe riflettere lo "spirito del tempo" fu il Romanticismo, tendenza che auspicava sia il recupero della tradizione che una propria identità controcorrente. La ricostruzione messa a punto in questo volume fa ben emergere come, nell'età romantica, l'arte (attraverso le poetiche di artisti quali Goya, Friedrich, Géricault, Delacroix, Turner, Fontanesi...) si sia manifestata secondo modalità plurali e perciò, di volta in volta, come naturalistica, storica, simbolica. Un'arte radicata nella civiltà filosofica, letteraria e musicale del tempo, le cui espressioni costituiscono uno degli archetipi fondamentali della creatività estetica dell'Occidente. Ha scritto numerosi saggi e libri teorici e storici sull´arte dell´Ottocento e del Novecento.
